How concerning is bloodwork showing elevated ldl at 174 (normal under 100 (martin-hopkins), total at 274 (normal under 200), normal triglyc., and normal hdl 55 (39+ normal). my alt is also elevated at 72 (5-50 normal). i take 10 mg lexapro. thanx?

LDL is high...but assessing the risk of a cardiovascular event (such as a heart attack or stroke) considers a person's entire panel of cardiovascular risk factors, including hemoglobin A1c (diabetic status), blood pressure, lipids, weight, lifestyle, smoking status, level of daily physical activity and daily stress. Only knowing the total picture can one decide on whether or not to treat the LDL.
