What can cause alt to fluctuate? my numbers: august alt 71, november alt 59, current alt 79. all other bloodwork (including ast) is normal.

Depends: Elevated liver enzymes (alt and ast) can be due to a number of causes. Without knowing more information, it is difficult to answer. However, it can be due to fatty liver disease (very common now a days) or inflammation from other causes like viral, autoimmune, or metabolic causes. Discuss with your pcp or a liver specialist what the next steps are.
