A member asked:

My bloodwork shows slightly elevated bilirubin but normal ast and alt. what does this mean and should i worry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gilbert's syndrome: This is a benign condition that requires no treatment characterized by mildly elevated bilirubin and otherwise normal liver function tests. The bilirubin can be higher with fasting which is why we often see it on routine blood work. It is not a disease and again requires no treatment.
