A member asked:

My doctor found 3 "nodules" around my ovary. what type of ultrasound will i need to see what it is? it hurts very bad

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Painful ovarian mass: 2 types of pelvic ultrasound: transabdominal (like in the picture) and trans vaginal with a probe that looks a little like a long tampon. Both are safe and not disagreeable for patients. Trans vag gives fine detail but less area. Many other ways to eval. ovarian masses, including MRI and occ. CT. Laparoscopy is done when tissue is needed for biopsy or other surgical intervention is necessary.
