MaybeThisWill Help: This is what I did the few times I was freaking-out over something: I started walking outside real fast then started jogging and intermittently sprinting until I was out of breath and repeated it until i was exhausted. It worked for me. If it doesn't work for you then you should probably see a doc and get some medication to help you temporarily until you can get some counseling.

Many options: Dr. Sterling's idea of jogging is worth a try. You might also try a hot bath with 2 cups of epsom salts and ideally a few drops of lavender oil while doing slow deep breathing. Tulsi tea and Rescue Remedy (a Bach Flower remedy), available at health food stores, can also help. Learn meditation. Therapy?: Have you yet tried any form of psychotherapy? Typically, the optimal combination of things to treat emotional issues such as panic attacks, which are common is medication (which, on your best day, is supposed to take the edge off symptoms) but the real gruntwork takes place in psychotherapist's consulting room.

Psychotherapy helps: There are some breathing, imaging, and meditative exercises that can help alleviate your anxiety and panic in the immediate situation. In the long run, in my opinion, only regular work with a psychotherapist can help to uncover and ameliorate chronic anxiety and panic. For some people, medications can also be helpful, so for some, I would recommend a medication consultation with a Psychiatrist.

One of the quickest: things you can do is change venues. Yes, leave your current place and visit somewhere else, preferably one that engages you (see works by Jampolsky). Exercise. Panic: It is good to have a medical exam first to rule out any underlying illness. You could seek psychotherapy from a clinical psychologist for a program to reduce anxiety, including breathing exercises. There are also medications to help with this. With good psychotherapy it can be possible for certain people to overcome the need for medication for anxiety and panic attacks.

Need a full medical : As there are a number of conditions (endocrine, cardio) which can mimic panic attacks, you do need a proper medical assessment and examination to rule them out first. If the symptoms are indeed psychiatric, then your family physician could consider medication, CBT or both.

Get mental health: Assistance. If you can find a quiet place - do so. Breath in slowly; deeply through your nostrils. Fill your lungs with air (but not to the point of discomfort). Hold for a count of five then slowly begin to exhale through an open mouth. Repeat at least 12 times, longer if you need to.
