There are lots: of questions here. While you don't say, this sounds like a report from an imaging test such as a CT/MRI of the lung. The pleura is a thin membrane that covers the lungs. Thickening results from scarring, infection, tumors, etc. Unfortunately, most NODULAR pleural thickening is the result of cancer..either metastatic from the lung, breast or elsewhere, or mesothelioma. Your doctor can elaborate.
