Yes: The hated ramsey-hunt syndrome is shingles involving the ear, and able to paralyze half of the face, cause intense pain, and produce dizziness and hearing loss. You need to be under a physician's care if you have this.

Yes: Agree with Dr. Friedlander. Ramsay Hunt syndrome (herpes zoster oticus) is shingles outbreak that can cause hearing loss & painful rash. It affects the facial nerve near one of the ears. There can be lesions on the ear as well.
