Physician Evaluation: You will need a full evaluation by your physician or health care provider. This should include a history, physical exam, and blood work. Generally patients who suffer from recurrent shingles also have immune suppression (a weak immune system) which is causing the herpes virus (shingles) to show up.

Shingles in the ear: When shingles occurs in the ear it is called ramsay hunt syndrome shingles is called by the reactivation of the dormant (sleeping) chicken pox virus that can reside in nerves for your entire life. The virus becomes active the infection results in an outbreak of shingles in the distribution of the nerve where it was hiding. So shingles in the ear can reoccur and needs medical rx by your dr.
