Probably not kidney: Well, a mass on the kidney itself would generally be baseball-size before you could feel it through the skin. You'd likely be peeing blood long before it got this big. What you'r describing could be muscular, fatty, or a skin growth, but there's not nearly enough information here to speculate, and any unusual mass or growth especially with swelling should be looked-at by a doctor.
