Kidney pain and swollen kidney can occur when a stone is stuck in the ureter which makes urine backing up in the kidney. However, you will have pain but less likely you can feel the swollen kidney. You should go to ER if pain persists or get worse, especially if your urine changes in color. Besides, you may have problem not related to the kidney at all so a physical exam in necessary.
