I have a pfo closure? is a pfo hereditary? in what year was it checked for at birth? my son was born in july 1982 and he's been getting palpitations.

Normal finding: A PFO is a common finding in humans. It has a flap over it that is usually closed after birth when blood flow requirements change.I would look to something else as a trigger for palpitations.
