Genetic test: Talk to ob/gyn or peds re genetics consult. There are tests available now including the 22q11 deletion test (digeorge syndrome) and others. The tests are usually done by amniocentesis where fluid is drawn out of the amniotic sac by your ob/gyn doctor. Of course the prenatal ultrasound tests can detect most heart defects. Yes: If you are close to being 35 you would be considered high risk and yes future pregnancy tests are indicated as well as good close prenatal care. Also take prenatal vits.
