I had a stroke earlier this year at 45 and a contrast echo showed a pfo. i had a toe test yesterday but they could not see the pfo. i forgot to ask why the hole couldnt be seen.?

See below: I assume you had a transesophageal echo. This test is much more sensitive in diagnosing or ecluding a pfo. I suspect the contrast echo may have been a false positive ir the tee did not show the pfo.
