A lot toe consider.: The first step in determining what is going on with your toe is to have it evaluated by a specialist. Big toe injuries can involve not only soft tissue disruption but may also include damage to a toe bone. A toe x-ray may be necessary to separate the two. It would be interesting to note how the injury and subsequent swelling has affected the range of movement or muscle strength of the toe.
