Yes: Very likely you had a small collection of blood beneath the skin called a hematoma and/or bursitis if the affected area is in front of the kneecap. It often takes several months for the body to naturally resorb the blood and for the soft tissue to become flat and smooth again. This area is very sensitive to pressure because of the lack of fat/cushioning. You will continue to get better!
