Chemistry: Silicon oxide is a filler used in many medications to prevent clumping of ingredients and to absorb water, which could spoil the medication. There is no known benefit or risk of eating this, since it is everywhere in our food and environment. Inhalation may be the cause of silicosis and cancer.
