A member asked:

Hi, my friend aged 31 has been diagnosed with sepsis which has lead to hypoglycemia, apparently been put in an induced coma - how severe is this?

It's serious: Induced coma is used primarily in people believed to have serious possible brain damage, which could result from sepsis, hypoglycemia, or both. It would not be done if the problem were not quite serious. It's impossible to say more, or to estimate prognosis, based on the information provided. You'll have to speak with his doctors, family, etc. Good luck and best wishes to your friend and you.
