Can you tell me what you suggest if someone is put on life support, do they induce a coma or can that person be awake just not able to talk?

They are sedated: When someone is put on the ventilator, we usually keep him sedated, the level of sedation varies based on the underlying illness, but in most cases we keep it light so the person is able to open eyes and communicate, in certain cases, we need deep level of sedation and the patient would not be able to communicate.
