Dental implants: restore a missing tooth so that it looks, feels, fits and functions almost like a natural tooth. They are becoming the best alternative to partial dentures and fix bridges but not everyone is a good candidate for implants and not everyone can afford implants. Ask your dentist for the advice in your individual situation.

Many reasons: Implant is a "permanent" restoration. Nothing to remove every night. Feels more like a tooth. Denture has to be removed every day which can be annoying. It can fall out when eating, Sometimes if you are missing only one tooth and there is no other tooth after it then denture is not possible. Finally money. Denure is less than implant so you can decide the type of treatment you can afford.

Implant vs RPD: It depends--if you can afford the implant option it's the best way to go. While it takes time it will best mimic your own natural teeth. A partial denture will move in your mouth, will trap food, and perhaps be less acceptable esthetically. Discuss your options with your dentist

Often, both: Many people will use a removable denture as an interim solution while they are waiting for healing or osseointegration of an implant. Immediacy vs more natural replacement and cost are the main variables that help people decide how to proceed.
