A member asked:

Is it true that celebrities use mac veneers for smile makeover and also that mac veneers are the strongest ones?

Yes and no: While i'm sure that amc veneers are the treatment used on many celebrities, they are a brand name from a specific laboratory. There are many other fine labs that fabricate equally beautiful and long lasting veneers. The key is to find a dentist who knows how to treat you properly.

Maybe: Mac veneers are made by microdental lab. I have used them many times over the years. They always deliver a good product. Celebrities are people just like everyone else and have their own dentist like everyone else. If they have veneers then only their dentist would know which lab made them. When done well ceramic veneers are all strong enough.

No: This is not true at all. Mac veneers are simply veneers made by microdental lab. They are a good lab, however, the materials are often the same as used by other ceramists and labs. We have done many types of veneers on celebrities and so have my colleaques. As for strength, this is not the strongest either. By the way some of the strongest are not the most cosmetic appearing.

One of many: Mac is a lab with excellent marketing and well known work.. Traditional feldspahic ceramic done by a master ceramist conservatively especially in enamel, is the most beautiful and can be very strong, but different environments may require different materials, some stronger but may not give the best esthetics. Go to a trained cosmetic dentist that uses a high end lab and they can guide you.

Strength /aesthetics: Mac is just one of many high end labs that provides variety of products when it comes to smile makeover . Your cosmetic dentist well be able to advise you as to what material ( porcelain, impress, zerconia , etc. ) and what procedure is best for your mouth and smile ( veneers, lumineers, or wrap around veneers/ crowns, etc. ) as every smile and case is deferent

So what? no: Just another "ditto" and in agreement with all my colleagues great answers. Strength is more determined by design, preparation, attention to detail, case selection and bonding technique than by the actual strength of the material itself. It's more likely for the laminate to "debond" than for it to chip or fracture. What about the esthetics?- why you want it in the first place.

Brand name: Its just a brand name, like ford or honda. The beauty of veneers depend on the dentist, and a great ceramist.

Yes And Warranty: Yes, many celebrities do have macveneers, and they usually come with a great warranty from mac studio lab. Yes, it is a brand, but your dentist might not want to pay for a well known brand, like "mercedes" and rather give you a "honda" which works well, too.. So it's up to you, quality and sometimes "you get what you pay for" do apply. Also, there's nothing wrong with a yugo or geo metro as long.

??: I am not familiar with mac veneers. Perhaps they are a veneer made by a particular laboratory that wants to market their services. Perhaps mac veneers are very strong. I am sure other veneers are just as strong. However, that alone does not guarantee success. You want a reputable dentist providing the veneers. The dentist can add longevity and aesthetics to the result. Search for online reviews.
