Cirrhosis : what to take for a fever in a cirrhosis patient depends on the amount of liver function left. This is a discussion that needs to occur with the patient's liver doctor. Herbal supplements and over-the-counter medicines should be avoided unless okayed by the liver specialist. Some patients need to avoid salt and high protein meals, depending on their symptoms. Also no shellfish. Good luck.
