Usually not.: because x-rays mainly visualize bony structures. Muscles are best visualized on imaging such as MR or CT.

Yes: The value of x rays in leg tumors is to define the extent of the lesion, and proximity to vital structures such as nerves and blood vessels as well as underlying periosteum of bone. Usually CAT or MRI will provide the needed information. On occasion we use angiogram of the femoral vessels to determine extent of vascularity for resection or whether chemoembolization will improve results.
