A member asked:

Can i wear plastic/glass body jewelry (a retainer) during a laparoscopy? my piercing is out of the way but if i take it out it will for sure close.

Should be OK: As long as it's not near the location of one of the incisions, it should be just fine. Discuss with your surgeon on the day of surgery. The fact that their plastic or glass shouldn't make a difference. Hope this helps!

Should be OK: Discuss this with your surgeon. As long as fixture is out of the way of the incision, should not be a problem. Your piercing should not close, if the fixture has to be removed temporarily, in just the few hours between the surgery and recovery.
