Teeth need to be moved slowly as to not damage the supporting bone. About . 25 mm per two weeks should be no problem.

Teeth have to be retained 24/7 for a full year to achieve maximum stability. Part time retention after the year is then necessary to maintain. Stability depends on root angulation, bone support, gum tissue between teeth, and proper adjustment ant retainer design. Once closed you have to start the full year 24/7 retention over again.
