A member asked:

Do i have to remove my piercings for a laparoscopy? i got my nipples done yesterday, would i have to use a retainer? i'm not sure if i can change them

Maybe: If they are metal, and the surgeon needs to use a monopolar energy source, it will put you at risk to get burned at the location of the metal. Discuss this with the nurse, and surgeon when you get to the hospital, and they will let you know before your procedure. Hope this helps!
