A member asked:

I'm a pcos patient , 18 y/o...should i take metformin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: I typically prescribe metformin to my PCOS patients because it decreases the androgens in your system (male hormone that can cause male pattern hair growth amongst other issues) and also reduces the risk of insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes). It reduces blood sugar but should not ever cause an excessive drop.
