Helpful rule: If you're trying to put on muscle, take a gram of protein per kilogram that your body weighs now. If you're just exercising, maybe 2/3 of that. You will trim down when, and only when, your lifestyle is fitness-focused. "Exercising an hour to lose fat" will fail because it's boring and frustrating. Being always mindful of what you eat, and finding fitness stuff you truly enjoy, will be the key.
