I've been losing weight by eating better but is it good to lose weight by minimizing carbs and fat and increasing protein intake?

Generally, yes: low carb and higher protein is healthy and a good way to loose weight. There are good carbs and bad carbs. Good carbs basically include vegetables and bad carbs include junk food. Congrats and continued health. Don't forget that eggs, including the yolks, are god for you.
