Discuss w/ Dr: Weight gain is a common sode effect but if you really need this medication, you might have o find ways to minimize it and seek to et off ASAP or alternate Tx. Try psychotherapy to optimize benefits and shorten need if possible. Be sure of the Dx w/ a good Psych Eval by a Clin Psych PhD - if you do not need it, ask Doc to get you off.

Not normal: Lithium can cause some midsection weight gain, but it is unusual to happen in just a week, and it is more common, when gain gain happens,for it to follow other patterns. You are quite wise to pursue healthy eating and regular exercise.
