Both R true: Your HDL is technically just a bit "low" but your total cholesterol, LDL and TGs are normal - hence both statements are true! From your doctor's perspective, your HDL isn't abnormal enough to justify treatment even if we had an effective drug (we don't). Daily exercise is a healthy lifestyle and it raises HDL so it's definitely recommended. Beyond that, forget it. It's an inherited characteristic.

Agreed: a heart healthy lifestyle includes daily or Atleast 4 x/week 30 mins of aerobic exercise (walking briskly fine too); yoga or Pilates or lifting some weights other days; eating as much of a Mediterranean diet as possible. Your HDl will increase: every 1mg/dl increase will decrease your risk of heart disease by 1%.So good goal to have> 40 mg/dl. Incr almonds, walnuts, and avocado intake
