Neck pain treatment: Neck pain treatment can be simple or complex depending on the cause. Most neck pain is musculoskeletal (coming from the muscles). This is best treated with stretching, strengthening and careful attention to ergonomics (avoiding injury due to awkward positions and repetitive stress). If you are not improving ask to see a spine specialist (either a physiatrist or surgeon) for evaluation.

See below: Sharp neck pain usually comes from a degenerative joint or disc in the neck. Sometimes it's from a muscle strain or sprain. Early treatment options include a short course of n-saids (advil, aleve), gentle massage, moist heat, and focusing on posture. If pain lasts greater than 2 weeks see your physician.
