Follow ortho : Your dentist referred you to the orthodontist because he or she is a specialist in the movement of teeth. If your orthodontist says your are finished, then your dentist should only back him up. Your orthodontist doesn't work for your dentist nor need his approval.

Hard to say...: Can't possibly tell when your treatment will be completed... That's when you can have your braces removed.

Trust orthodontist: Mom should talk to the orthodontist. Your orthodontist, not your dentist, should dictate when your braces come off.

Orthodontist's call: Braces should be removed as soon as the orthodontist feels treatment is completed. The orthodontist may choose to confer with the family dentist, but it's the orthodontist that's in charge of the orthodontic treatment. It's like having your appendix removed and asking the family physician when it's ok for the surgeon to close.
