Have a periodontal tooth abscess. can i take amoxicillin and bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) together to clear the infection until i can have the tooth extracted?

Antibiotics: I strongly recommend that you see a dentist first, have the tooth examined, determine the proper course of treatment, and then take the correct antibiotics. Certain infections require immediate intervention, not just pills. You'll heal faster and be better off in the long run.

Periodontal abscess: won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. You can use take amoxicillin and bactrim together to clear the infection or NSAID OTC or Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain control. See a dentist ASAP for assessment and treatment..
