Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) : Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is not an antibiotic normally used for infections of the mouth, since it kills bacteria not normally associated with oral infections. You should call the office you have an appointment with and ask for a prescription to hold you over until your appointment.

Maybe.: Depending on what bacteria are causing the infection and how susceptible to Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) they are, it may work or it may not. If it doesn't help in a few days, it probably won't.
