My thumb is a little swollen. i can't bend it all the way and can't grasp anything. i am in pain. do you think it's broken or fractured?

Needs to be checked: We can not tell you if it is broken or fractured without knowing more like if you had an injury and how long it has been swollen and without examining it and without Xrays
It needs to be checked by your Doctor and if fracture is suspected will be only confirmed by xrays
Other causes can be inflammation like tendinitis or an infection
