Which thumb joint : there are three basic thumb joints. If this is at the bottom of the thumb, this is the carpometacarpal joint. It is commonly involved in osteoarthritis. And you may have had some irritation in the joint because of the severe pain. You can discuss this with the physician, there are some splints she can wear, you can have an injection, there are medicines that you can take.
