A 30-year-old female asked:
I just hit my hand on something hard and immediately my thumb at the joint became slightly swollen and bruised. it's not hurting unless i mash on it. it is a little numb at the joint, but not bad. is this most likely a sprain, fracture, or break?

Hard to say: It is really hard to say. If you had significant mechanism to have caused a fracture, you might want to be seen, examined, and get an X-ray. If it was a minimal "bump" you might give it 24-48 hours if rest, ice, elevation and if it seems to have resolved let it go but if not better be seen.
