Shingles are not contagious like other illnesses. It does not go airborne. The moist debris from weeping sores has some chickenpox virus in it but only someone who has never had them that somehow gets this debris in their mouth would be at risk & then the issue would be chickenpox, not shingles. Just keep the site covered.
