No simple Answer: Has it been a while between cleaning visits for your husband? I suspect a number of possibilities for what you are describing. If he had lots of subgingival calculus removed the soft tissue is reorganizing. The odor will leave within days. As the gum tissues heal the teeth that were loose could tighten in the socket. the opposing teeth may not contact properly( mal occlusion).

Teeth problems: Good oral hygiene that includes brushing and flossing is very important. Discuss any concerns with the dentist. If there are any problems they will be able to determine the cause and recommend treatment.

Sounds like: Sounds like your spouse may have gone too long between professional cleanings, and there has been more than a little damage to his supporting tissues. please have him return to his Dentist for a reevaluation. Referral to a specialist Periodontist may be in order. In. the meantime he MUST floss or use a WaterPik daily, and brush 2 full minutes by the clock twice a day.

Halitosis: Bad breath can be caused by many different factors, including sinus infections, periodontal problems, smoking, cavities, acid reflux, and your diet. Address all of these possibilities with your dentist and physician, and I'm confident that your problem will at least be minimized, and hopefully eradicated.
