Within limits: The Dentist can see about 65-75% of tooth enamel with a visual inspection. The rest is usually evaluated on x-ray. Macroscopic problems can be detected readily. Microscopic problems may not yet be able to be evaluated. Your Dentist is trained and experienced in addressing all of your oral health needs, or referring you for specialty treatment if required.
