Nailing it: One thickened nail is more than likely due to some type of infection, although, trauma to the nail could be the cause. If all the nails are thickened I would think that the cause is more than likely some type of infection. Nails thickened due to trauma have little chance of resolving without intervention. An infection can be treated with medicine.
