How should i prevent an ingrown toe nail?

Shoes, Trimming: The major factors that lead to chronic ingrown toenails are heredity, ill fitting shoes (too tight, especially in the toe box) and incorrect trimming. Always trim straight across, not in a curve. The edge of the toenail can be permanently removed for chronic cases.

Cut correctly, shoes: Wear proper fitting footwear. Cut nails straight across and not down the sides. Do not cut too short so nail will not grow into skin.
