Depends: There are many surgical approaches to treating glaucoma. For the most common, trabeculectomy, success rates vary among surgeons. However, if the surgical goal is achieved, and intraocular pressure is reduced, surgery, instead of, or in addition to drops, is very successful.

Very : Most incisional glaucoma surgeries are very effective at lowering intraocular pressure to help protect the optic nerve and stabilize the glaucomatous disease process. Some surgeries are more effective than others, but differ in risk.
