Like my mother i am anemic, she recently had to be given blood, can you tell me why this would happen? thank you.

The causes of anemia are varied, and may include blood loss, defects in production of Red cells and, rarely destruction of blood like in sickle cell anemia. The latter condition is called hemolytic anemia. Only detailed testing from a doctor can pin point the cause and guide in treatment.
