Had spinal tap done and it came back with over 20 wbc and obands. is this still consistent with ms? doctor is checking for ms mimic.

Possible MS: Oligoclonal bands can be seen in several other conditions, and your doctor is correct to search for other explanations, especially in view of high WBC count in spinal fluid. Infections such as syphilis, HIV, and Lyme disease are a few of the problems to be excluded.
