A member asked:

Other than a spinal tap, what tests can i ask my doc for so i can rule out ms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why spinal tap?: The consideration of an MS diagnosis starts with a suspicious history and clinical findings consistent with central nervous system problems. The current gold standard involves characteristic MRI findings in brain and spinal cord. Spinal taps are used currently in difficult and/or ambiguous cases to exclude other causes, and no longer the cornerstone of confirming diagnosis.
