Unfortunately, total protein in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is usually normal in MS. You just have to wait for the full CSF analysis. Besides, CSF is just a supplemental test in the diagnosis of MS. Thank you and good luck to you in the New Year.

The key component in the spinal fluid is presence of significant oligoclonal bands. If present, and associated with MRI abnormalities in brain and spinal cord, this can confirm the revised McDonald criteria and clarify a diagnosis of MS. The CSF protein level is too nonspecific to point toward a diagnosis.
