Ct scan showed lower atelectasis and swelling around appendix. no one mentioned the atelectasis. have seen it on past x-ray. never mentioned to me why?

If it was a very: small region of Atelectasis or scarring it may not have been felt to be clinically significant, but without seeing the images it is impossible to say for sure. You can ask your doctor about it if you are concerned.
