Amoxil (amoxicillin) dose range: The usual dose of Amoxil (amoxicillin) for active infection in children is generally dosed at 45-90 mg/kg in two divided doses. Your son's dose was in the middle of that range. Lack of improvement may have been because the bacterial infection wasn't sensitive to Amoxil (amoxicillin) at that dose, or because the infection was viral (viral infections don't respond to these types of medications).
