My 52lb son was given a dosage of 8mls twice a day of amoxicillin (400/5ml) for strep,does this seem rigth? because he not get well.

Strep throat : he can take high dose amoxil (amoxicillin) for his weight for 10 days. Around 750mg twice a day. That fose may be a little low but not necessarily less effective. Hope that helps

Amoxil (amoxicillin) dose range: The usual dose of Amoxil (amoxicillin) for active infection in children is generally dosed at 45-90 mg/kg in two divided doses. Your son's dose was in the middle of that range. Lack of improvement may have been because the bacterial infection wasn't sensitive to Amoxil (amoxicillin) at that dose, or because the infection was viral (viral infections don't respond to these types of medications).
