Strep dose: For strep I recommend 1000 mg per day total. Do not require higher doses used for otitis media.

Yes, it is.: Dosage is correct. High dose amox is 90 mg/kg/day.

Safe=yes, needed=no: This is a dose that I might use to get the meds into the thick muck of a sinus or middle ear infection but it is not needed to treat simple strep.10ml of this preparation 2X/day would be adequate therapy. If the doc saw an ear or sinus infection & didn't tell you, that's a different issue. Any excess med would exit though his kidneys within hours, he might be more likely to have loose stools.
